Prolific shoplifter jailed for stealing steaks from Co-op

A PROLIFIC thief has been jailed for a series of shoplifting incidents.

Lee Paul Barnes appeared in court following a series of incidents in the Totton area.

The 39-year-old stole goods worth £40 from a Tesco Express on January 30 and then stole goods worth £23.90 from the same store on March 22.

On April 24, he stole steaks worth £50 from a Co-op supermarket in Holbury.

Appearing at Southampton Magistrates’ Court, he admitted three thefts.

Barnes, of Roundcopse, Dibden, was jailed for a total of 24 weeks and ordered to pay £113 compensation.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £128.
