Hampshire country pub serving steaks cooked to 440 degrees

This traditional and friendly local serves a revolutionary menu.

Visitors to the White Horse at Netley Marsh receive a very warm welcome and a truly sizzling steak.

The pub, on the edge of the New Forest, is renowned for its lava stone steaks.

Owner Sophie Hingston, who has been at the helm for eight years, told The Daily Echo: “We offer a rare type of catering where the steak is cooked at a high temperature on a volcanic rock which has itself been heated to 440 degrees. .

“The steaks are delivered to the table seared and the food stays hot throughout the meal. They are cooked exactly the way the customer likes it on these rocks, creating a diverse and fun dining experience. ”

It’s not just the steaks that keep guests coming back. The pub serves a wide range of food, including gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options, as well as daily specials that complement each season.

There’s everything from winter warmers such as award-winning bundles and mashed potatoes with fresh seasonal vegetables to lighter summer grills, cod and breaded bistro fries to the hand, the 8 oz handmade beef burger and of course the homemade Sunday roasts. All this is accompanied by drinks, including a range of premium spirits, real lagers and lagers on tap, over 20 gins, festive mulled wine and hot soft drinks.

The pub, winner of Trip Advisor awards for the past six years, has been part of the community for over 100 years and was located next to the Ashby Brewery.

It remains a hub to this day with events including a weekly Meat Draw, monthly live band parties, and Elton John’s tributes to Elvis. Coming up this month are the annual village-adored Christmas carol night with a live pianist and saxophonist on December 23 and a New Years party with an incredible tribute to Sir Elton John.

The White Horse’s beer garden overlooks the local church and makes a nice sun trap in the summer, while also offering a covered pergola, heaters, and string lights for the cooler weather.
