Preparing my Forum Seminar on 'Love the Church' I've been re-reading Josh Harris and Terry Virgo on church. Tasty stuff. Virgo's book btw, going for £2.99 at the newfrontiers website...I want to exalt the church because [she] is exalted in Scripture. [She] is the bride of Christ: a reflection of the glory and the beauty of the love within the Trinity...
Church is clearly important to Jesus.

Was the Harris book you read, "Stop Dating the Church"? I didn't quite know what to make of that book. Generally I've found Harris to be v helpful, but I guess I was struggling as a charismatic, to read a book on the church that doesn't really mention the Holy Spirit at all as the manifest Presence of God (in the context of Ephesians 2:20).
ReplyDeleteYeh, it's not as strong on that as Virgos. I think it's big strength is the material on committing to a church.
