![]() ![]() | We were up visiting friends for the weekend and dropped in on our old church where we ran into more friends and this was the preach: Steve Abery at Arborfield - on Zechariah's song - Luke 1. Really very good. For lo! the days are hastening on, By prophet-bards foretold, When with the ever circling years Comes round the age of gold; See also: Adrian Reynolds - on Luke 1 at Arborfield, 2 weeks ago. The one in between may also be great, but I've just not gotten round to listening to it yet. |

Zechariah's Song - all about Jesus!

I've never liked the ever-circling years bringing round the age of gold. I try to sing it thinking of linear & God-controlled history bringing Christ's 2nd coming and the consummation of his reign over the redeemed creation, but I usually choke halfway - I don't have the faith to imagine that's what's meant by the line - and end up skipping it. I did it again this morning, while bashing it out on the piano - tried to sing it and still choked halfway through ever-circling years... :-'
ReplyDeleteAnyway, look fwd to hearing the sermon :)
I was a bit disturbed to find that the guy who wrote it was a Unitarian, which might be the problem.... But we did sing it, and it gets some allusion in the sermon.
