Harry Potter and Magic-of-Hype

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince gets released later this week. It's already the number one seller at Amazon. And it's not even available. They report it has 672 pages. I would imagine JK Rowling would be within her rights to release a book with 672 blank pages, or just a short story with 100pages. And maybe if she did that we might learn to be a bit more critical and discerning rather than throwing money at a book which could be total drivel...

  1. Could be, could be!!!
I haven't rushed to pre-order, despite being one of these people who has read the other books (although in my defence, only owns one :-p)
Mostly becaue the last book was overlong, and a bit tedious - I hoped this would be more like 400 pages, I think they're suffering from too much pressure to publish therefore not enough time for editing.
Still, given the addictviness of her storytelling I daresay I will be reading it pretty soon.
The hype is ridiculous! Thankfully the bible is still the worlds bestseller, and translated into the most languages. The way it should be :-D

  2. She does need an editor - 600+ pages is ridiculous. She could also use a new plot structure - i know its set in school years but it gets very repetative...

We do own the full set thus far, but I'd happily pass on this one.

  3. I'm not sure if I'm going to buy it or not. I have read all of the other ones, but they are long and take a lot of effort to read!
